Biology 12
Today we discussed the fact that besides water there are four main types of chemical compounds in our bodies. They are: Carbohydrates, Proteins, Lipids (fats) and Nucleic Acids. One thing they all have in common is that they are all polymers (chains of repeating units).
We looked at how polymers are made: By dehydration synthesis and how they are broken down into their small units: By hydrolysis.
Next we looked in depth at carbohydrates and learned of some monomer and polymer names.
HOMEWORK: Complete Section A part C) Biological Molecules of the Cell for tomorrow.
Second Block: We did a lab on Antacid Buffers. This will be due next Friday Feb. 10th.

Today we took lots of notes on how to express measurements in Chemistry. Notes on metric conversions with two steps, scientific notation and significant figures.
We got ready to do our first lab, but did not start it yet. We will begin this Friday.

Took notes on Acids, Bases and Buffers.
