 Today we went for a LONG walk on our quest to find rocks and moss for our TERRARIUMS!!   They look great!

Today (and yesterday for the other class) we spent the first block finishing off the Virus Project.  This project is due Monday, March 4.  Next we did a viral spread lab where we had to figure out who started the spread of a virus.  Finally we started on the Virus Review.  Review is found HERE and the virus test is coming up on Tuesday, March 5.

Today we worked on our Draw Down Solutions Project.  See Friday's post for the assignment.  We also got the jar being used for our terrariums set up and ready to go for Thursday.  Come prepared to go outside and do some rock hunting and a moss mission on Thursday.

 Today we wrote our quest on CELLS unit and turned in the unit review questions.  Next we finished off the virus notes from yesterday and watched the AMOEBA sister video below.  Finally we started on our own virus project.  This can be done on office 365 in word.  Project is found HERE.  It is due next FRIDAY, March 1.

Today we continued to work on our DRAWDOWN projects.  (See yesterday's blog post).   Next we did a short group activity to calculate the carbon dioxide emissions savings from biking or walking to school EVERY DAY!!  We also watched a few more minutes of the draw down solutions video on decreasing sources.

 Today we got back to DRAW down solutions and looked at how we can decrease sources of greenhouse gases.  We watched 7 minutes of the video below.   After that we had a short time to work on our project this is found HERE.

 Today we went over any specific questions from the CELLs unit study guide found HERE. 

Next we took some notes on viruses.  The power point is HERE and note sheet HERE. (we aren't done yet!) 

Finally we started a VENN diagram assignment on CELLS vs. VIRUSES.  If you weren't here for this, don't worry!  You will have time to work on it in class.

Today we took some notes on the Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Carbon cycles.  Next we did a worksheet on the carbon cycle.  Next block we went outside and did a lab that involved measuring air temperature in different locations.  Finally we started to think about a research project around the Drawdown solutions library.  Research project is HERE and Website is HERE.  

We will start working on this project next week.

Today we finished off the second Draw Down Solutions video (from yesterday's post) and turned in two things we knew, two things we learned and 1 question we have from this.

Today we took some notes on how organisms get and use an energy molecule.  Next we got two review sheets for the Cell Quest coming up next week (on Wendnesday) and finally we got a yeast lab that we should finish for Tuesday.

Today we finished off our Climographs for Revelstoke and somewhere else in the world.  Next we learned to play two Enviro. Sc. type board games.  ABLAZE and Nature FLUX.  See the you tube videos below to learn how to play.

Next assignment:  Make a Climograph for Revelstoke and one for somewhere else in the world.  HERE is a website that explains what a Climograph is.

 Today we took our microscope quiz.  Next we got the textbooks from the library.  Finally we finished off notes on characteristics of Living Things.  The power point is found HERE. (started on reproduction, finished with homeostasis.)

Homework:  Find a picture from the textbook that speaks to you.  Write me a brief couple of sentences about why you chose this pic.  Or get creative and write a poem!)

Today we worked on microscope labs.  First we went over using a compound microscope lab and turned in.  This lab is found HERE. 

Next we worked on determining actual size of an organism using Field of View Diameter.  This lab is HERE.

Today we started with a little lab activity to look at the % of oxygen in the air.  The lab is found HERE.
