Life Science 11

Today we did a breeding bunnies lab.  Turn in your graph when you have completed.  Next we got another review for the evolution quiz- Coming up right before MARCH break!! On Friday!!.    This review is HERE and answer key HERE.   ---Make sure you view this in web version to see answers.

If you need to look back at the evidence of evolution it is found HERE.

Below is a good video on the types of natural selection.  Don't worry about the term "Hardy-Weinberg" equilibrium, it just means the alleles are in equilibrium.

Life Science 11 (Bio 11)

Today we looked at the types of natural selection with THESE notes.

Next we watched the short video on the 5 fingers of evolution. (5 ways that evolution can happen)

We also took notes from THIS power point and got THIS review.  Evolution Unit Quiz (Unit D pg. 32) is coming up on Friday, March 15.

Environmental Science 12

Today we finished our Reflectivity Apparatus lab.  Next we watched a Zoom presentation by the UBC faculty of Food Systems, Nutrition and Applied Biology.  Tomorrow and Friday we will be out and about in the community!   Wear some good shoes for walking and proper clothing to be outside.

Life Science 11

Today we turned in our Evidence for Evolution worksheet we worked on last week.  Next we took some notes on Darwin's theory of Evolution by Natural Selection.  These notes are found HERE.  Finally we finished off our graphs and the questions for the Natural Variations lab.  The lab is HERE.

Environmental Science 12

Today we made and tested our Reflectivity apparatus.  We came up with predictions about which natural substances had the highest and lowest albedos.   HERE is the assignment.

Environmental Science 12

Today we took some notes on Earth's Energy Budget.  Notesheet is HERE (up to ALBEDO) and power point is HERE.

Next we did an activity on Solar Insolation found HERE.

Life Science 11

Today we wrote our virus quiz.  Next we made a histogram to represent the data in our Natural Variations lab.  Video below explains histograms:

Make sure you have turned in your drawdown solutions project:).

Today we finished off taking notes from the Draw down solutions video:  Reducing sources.  Make sure you have notes that identify the major causes of greenhouse gas emissions in the world.

Next we looked at some moss (water) under the microscope and tried to find some tardigrades (water bears)  Video below:

Life Science 11

Today we talked about the virus unit and what you need to review before the quiz tomorrow.    The review questions:  Viruses:  Structure and Nature are due tomorrow.

Major ideas in the unit: 1) Structure of a virus particle.  2) Lytic vs. lysogenic cycles (explain steps in the lytic cycle).     3) Immune System -1st, 2nd and 3rd lines of defense

Next we took some short notes on evolution and finally did a short lab:  Natural Variations Lab.  Make sure you bring this back tomorrow to complete the questions and graph.

Life Science 11

Today we practiced for our Virus Unit Quiz coming up on Tuesday.  We worked on the review questions:  Viruses:  Structure and Nature.  Next we played some review games with the vocabulary words found HERE.  and some Kahoots.

Reminder that the viral disease project is due on MONDAY and the Quiz on Viruses is on Wednesday.

Environmental Science 12

Today we talked about Brian Mulroney (Canada's 18th Prime Minister) and what his contributions to the environment were.  Next we finished off the Draw Down Solutions Project if need be.
