Today we mainly worked on the nerve impulse drawing found HERE.  This is due in your double blcok.  Next we got a review assignment for the nervous system.  This is found HERE.  The nervous system QUIZ is moved until Friday.  This quiz will count only if it improves your mark, not if it lowers it.  WIN/WIN for the team!!

Today we got our mark sheet and checked to see if we had missing assignments.  Next we completed the assignment on determining the speed of the tectonic plate movement based on distances between Hawaiian islands.  Next we started some exam review and watched the videos below:

Today we finished off the notes on the NERVOUS SYSTEM.  Power point is HERE and notesheet HERE.  Careful!!  Not all notes are important.  You are responsible for understanding the major parts of the brain, the divisions of the nervous system and the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems.  Next we worked on the NERVE impulse drawing.  That is found HERE.

Today we finished off our notes on PLATE TECTONICS.  Power point is found HERE and note sheet HERE.  Next we did a lesson with ROCKS and looked at different types of rocks.  See the videos below for the rock cycle and how to identify rocks.   Finally we did a lab on the age of Hawaiian islands being used to determine how quickly the plates are moving.

Today we finished off a little section of notes on synaptic transmission and neurotransmitters. (See yesterday's notes and power point)  Next we started our LAST assignment on nerve impulse- Action Potential and Synaptic Transmission.  This assignment is found HERE.    Make sure you do this on extra large paper.   

The two videos below are super helpful in figuring out the tricky details of nerve impulses.   A reminder that there is a pesky old exam coming up!  Jan. 21 or Jan 22.
