 Today we looked at COVALENT compounds (2 non-metals)

First we looked out how covalent compounds form.  We wrote notes on THIS worksheet.  Next we took notes on how to write formulas and names for COVALENT compounds.    Use the video below if you missed this.    Then do THIS practice (just first three pages)

Finally we got two things to do for the CHEM UNIT test coming up next week on Tuesday, Oct. 29.  These are HERE and HERE.  I will post the answer keys to these sooooooooon!

Today we practiced all the naming and writing formulas for IONIC compounds.  The practice we did is found HERE  on page 1.  Homework:  #3, 4, 6 and 7 on page 173.

 Today we reviewed how to tell if something is an IONIC or COVALENT compound.  Next we took notes on writing formulas for IONIC compounds.  If you missed class, watch the video below and take notes.

Finally we set up a lab for next day.  This lab is: 6 types of Reactions.  It is found on page 180 of textbook.

We also got the unit review.  This is found HERE.   Review is due on Friday, unit test is on MONDAY, Oct. 19th.

 Today we did some practice questions with Active and Passive Transport.  Next we worked on our potato cytoplasm lab.  An exemplar for the lab is found HERE.

Today we wrote our balancing equations quiz.  Next we did some book work:  Read page 156-165.

Today we got our quizzes back from last class.  Next we finished the COVALENT compound section of THESE notes off.    Notesheet is found HERE.

Today we finished off notes on six types of reactions.  These notes are found HERE.  Next we did the lab on page 150-151 Endo and Exothermic reactions.  

Great work in the lab!  When you have collected all your data, answer the process and analyze and conclude and communicate questions on page 151.  No conclusion needed for this lab.  

If you want to practice for the quiz on Friday use THIS worksheet.  No need to classify the reactions, just balance.  Key is at the end of the worksheet.

Today we did some practice balancing equations.  We are going to have a quiz on this coming up on FRIDAY, Oct. 9th.  Practice problems are found HERE.   

 

Next we took notes on ENDO and EXO thermic reactions.  The notesheets are HERE and the power point is HERE.  Finally we completed our making silver lab.  You need to calculate the mass of copper used up and the mass of silver produced.  Show how you found there numbers.  

Homework:  Read page 140-145.  Do the purple textbook questions on page 145
