Today we started with completing the notes from the power point and completed the notesheet. (See last day's post). We took notes based on pages 4-7. Next we finished off the lab on Qualitative and Quantitative observations. Make sure you have turned in your textbook reflection and your scientific method graph.

Today we graphed our results from the "candy lab". Check out the graph rules at the top of the blog. Next we reviewed the scientific method and WHMIS symbols. Use THIS worksheet and THIS worksheet to review.
We also got our data booklets HERE and THIS data booklet assignment. (NOT due though, start this next week)

Life Sciences 11
Today we got our course outlines. Next we filled out a student survey for me to get to know you. Finally we played a name game where we learned a little bit about each of our classmates.
Homework due on Friday: Find a picture in the textbook that speaks to you for some reason. Tell me the page number and why this picture speaks to you. What thoughts, emotions or memories does it bring up? This is due on Friday.

Today we worked on REVIEW for the final exam. Remember a few things:
1. You can make a cheat sheet for the exam. 1 piece of plain, blank paper- hand written only
2. You will be given a periodic table and the tectonic boundaries map
3. BRING: Calculator, pencil, eraser
The reviews are found below:
Intro to Science Biology Physics Chemistry
Next we did the lab on page 301 looking at flow rates of different fluids. We assessed the VISCOSITY of different fluids based on flow rate. This is comparable to different types of lava.

Anatomy and Physiology 12
Today we mainly worked on the nerve impulse drawing found HERE. This is due in your double blcok. Next we got a review assignment for the nervous system. This is found HERE. The nervous system QUIZ is moved until Friday. This quiz will count only if it improves your mark, not if it lowers it. WIN/WIN for the team!!
Science 8
Today we got our mark sheet and checked to see if we had missing assignments. Next we completed the assignment on determining the speed of the tectonic plate movement based on distances between Hawaiian islands. Next we started some exam review and watched the videos below:

Anatomy and Physiology 12
Today we finished off the notes on the NERVOUS SYSTEM. Power point is HERE and notesheet HERE. Careful!! Not all notes are important. You are responsible for understanding the major parts of the brain, the divisions of the nervous system and the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems. Next we worked on the NERVE impulse drawing. That is found HERE.
Science 8
Today we finished off our notes on PLATE TECTONICS. Power point is found HERE and note sheet HERE. Next we did a lesson with ROCKS and looked at different types of rocks. See the videos below for the rock cycle and how to identify rocks. Finally we did a lab on the age of Hawaiian islands being used to determine how quickly the plates are moving.

Anatomy and Physiology 12
Today we finished off a little section of notes on synaptic transmission and neurotransmitters. (See yesterday's notes and power point) Next we started our LAST assignment on nerve impulse- Action Potential and Synaptic Transmission. This assignment is found HERE. Make sure you do this on extra large paper.
The two videos below are super helpful in figuring out the tricky details of nerve impulses. A reminder that there is a pesky old exam coming up! Jan. 21 or Jan 22.
The MC review assignment is found HERE and the key HERE
The written assignment is found HERE and the key for that is HERE.

Today we did a lab by BURNING compounds to see what colour of light they produced. See the videos below for an explanation of how fireworks are made.
Turn this in by the end of class. Next we finished off the notes on continental drift. The power point is HERE and the notesheet HERE.
Viedo below describes the continental drift theory:
