Biology 12
Today we had some review questions on water:
1) What three functions does water serve in the body?
2) Draw and label a molecule of water.
Took notes on Acids, Bases and Buffers.
Topic 1, Section A part B (Acids, Bases) should be completed for tomorrow.
We also looked at how a disease might be spread through a population with an Acid/Base indicator as our test

Today we discussed safety equipment in our Chemistry Lab. We drew a map of the room and labelled: fire extinguisher, fire blanket, eyewash station, emergency shower, spill kits, broken glass container, first aid kit, fume hood and safety goggles.
Homework: Safety map completed with all equipment labelled and an explanation of when and how to use the equipment.
Safety Quiz: Wednesday February 1.

We got back and went over the Motion Test today.
Next we drank tea and ate muffins (thanks Kate!) while doing a "Continent Cutout" activity to build Pangea......the super continent.
Homework: Do the Ecology Unit Exam Review questions and bring a one page Ecology Study Notes page to class-----You have to make these study notes.

It's a sprint to the end of the course. We are in fact, accelerating!
Finished off acceleration notes today. Three things for Classwork/Homework:
1) Yellow acceleration worksheet
2) Motion Review (practice test)
3) Book pg. 370 #3, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14
pg. 398 #6-9 and #14

Collected today: Lab 10A and pg. 358 #2, 3 and 5ab
Today we worked on practice questions for velocity and speed. Remember that velocity has a direction and speed does not!
We introduced the topic of acceleration and did some practice problems with acceleration.
Homework: pg. 379 #5, 6, 7

Today we looked at graphs of Distance vs. Time which is speed as well as Displacement vs. Time which is velocity. Filled in notes from these.
Homework is
1) to complete lab 10A pg. 366 and do Analysis a-e. Make sure you have a title, a question a data table, a graph with 3 slope calculations.
2) Pg. 358 #2, 3, 5ab

Today I collected the Unit Conversion Worksheet.
We went over some questions calculating time, distance and velocity. Simple Speed Worksheet is due next class.
We took notes on Displacement and Velocity and learned how velocity is different than speed.
Ticker Tape lab was next: pg. 366 in the text book. Graph the results with only points for next class.

Welcome back and Happy New Year!
Today we got back our Radioactivity Tests and went over a few questions. These were pretty good.....some folks did a lot better on the written section, but all in all nice work.
We did a quick review of unit conversions as well as speed/velocity calculations.
2 worksheets due tomorrow: Unit conversions and simple speed questions.
