Today we started balancing chemical reactions. We took notes with THIS note sheet and used THIS power point to fill it in. Then worked worked on THIS assignment. Finally we did a lab: Endothermic and Exothermic Reactions. This is found on page 150 of the textbook.
See the video below to show balancing chemical reactions:
Today we got back our quests on Chemistry Review. We also got a hand out to practice chemistry concepts. Do Activity #1, 2, 3 and 4. (Grab this from class tomorrow when you are back).
Today we took notes on Lytic and Lysogenic cycles. See the power point HERE. The notesheet that goes along with this was given out in class.
Homework: Read page 25-28. Do concept check #1-3 page 26 and concept check #1-3 page 28.
Today we did our CHEMISTRY REVIEW quiz. First we did the quiz, next we did a lab on the law of conservation of mass. Have a great weekend!
Today we wrote out QUEST on Cells and Intro to Biology.
Next we started the virus unit. The beginning of the virus notes are found HERE.
We also started reading in the textbook - first part of the virus unit. Read pages 22-25. Do concept check #1-5 on page 25
Today we practiced for the unit 1 QUEST. See yesterday's blog for links to the answer keys
Today we did more practice on our IONIC naming and formula writing. We also added in COVALENT compounds. See the video below for COVALENT compounds.
HERE is the answer key to the practice set.
Today we worked on PLANT and ANIMAL cells. The lab is found HERE.
See the video below for a review of animal cells!!
REMINDER: Unit 1 Quest: Intro to Bio and Cells. Wednesday, Feb. 11
Reviews are found HERE and HERE and HERE
Today we finished "The Microscope Lab" and turned it in. See Tuesday's blog for the link. Next we did the lab on Actual Size and Drawing Magnification. This lab is found HERE.
If you missed class, make sure you watch the videos below to understand:
1) How to focus properly with a microscope.
2) How the image moves and is observed when looking through a microscope
3) How to calculate total magnification
4) Know what field of view, depth of field and resolving power are
5) Know how to calculate ACTUAL SIZE and DRAWING MAGNIFICATION
Today we wrote our SAFETY quiz. Next we worked on the ATOMIC structure simulation from yesterday, and took notes on ATOMIC STRUCTURE. These notes are found HERE. (Starting at slide #23)
