Life Sciences 11

 Today we continued with the ANIMAL Kingdom by taking notes on the THREE worm phyla.  Power point is found HERE.  On Friday, June 13th we will have a cheat sheet allowed Animal Assessment.   We also watched the video below on freaky flatworms!!

 Today we wrote the quiz on Urinary System.  Next we did THIS worksheet on neurons.  Turn this in.

Life Science 11

 BIG old SQUID dissection day.  If you missed it, don't worry:  We saved you some squid!   First we watched the video below to look at how the Cephalopods (including squid and octopus) are different from other mollusks.  Next we did THIS lab.  (pages 5-9)  We have not done the post lab discussion questions (but don't worry, you only need to do # 1 and # 2).  

We got a few exam reviews.  THIS will help you set up your cheat sheet. (8.5 x 11 sheet).  THIS is a practice exam with the answer key HERE.

 Today we did some field work in the great outdoors!  We used the Ipads and the Merlin App to record the birds around the greenbelt.  We also looked at some plant species.  We also got THIS lab (Dissection explained in page 4-10) to prepare for our Squid Dissection on Friday.  The videos are below for the squid dissection and some cool squid vid.

 Today we skipped the WORMS in the sprint through the ANIMAL kingdom and went straight to MOLLUSCS.  First we reviewed CNIDARIANS WITH THE VIDEO BELOW.  Next we took notes on Phylum Mollusca from THIS power point.  Finally we did the colouring sheet on Mollusks found HERE.

 Today we worked on the Animal Kingdom with notes on Sponges and Cnidarians.  The power point is found HERE (Slides #13-16) and we started THIS colouring sheet.

 Today we took some written notes on pH balance in the body using the respiratory centre and the kidneys.  We also took notes on hormonal control of water balance and blood pressure.  Know about ADH and aldosterone.  Next we got the review for the Urinary System and the Kidneys.  This review is found HERE and answers are HERE.
